Privacy policy

At Clivo we take care of your personal data. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website cli-vo.com or message us on WhatsApp, what we use it for, who we share it with and how you can exercise your rights. We process your data in accordance with Uruguay's Personal Data Protection Law No. 18,331 and its Regulatory Decree No. 414/009.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Clivo, an insurance broker based in Uruguay, is the controller of your personal data. For any privacy question, email us at info@cli-vo.com.

2. What data we collect

We ask for the data needed to quote and issue your policy:

  • Personal and contact details: first name, last name, ID document number, date of birth, email, phone and address.
  • Details of what you want to insure: for car insurance, the vehicle's make, model, year and licence plate; for pet insurance, your pet's species, breed and age.
  • Any other information the insurer requires to issue the policy, which we ask for through the form, WhatsApp, phone or email.

We also use Google Analytics to get usage statistics for the site (pages visited, device type, approximate location). Google may use cookies for this.

3. How we use your data

  • To answer your questions and contact you about the insurance you're interested in.
  • To request quotes from insurers, help you take out a policy and support you through a claim.
  • To send you reminders about your policy (for example, renewals).
  • To improve our site and services using aggregated statistics.
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal data or use it for purposes other than those described here.

4. Who we share it with

We only share your data when it's needed to provide our service:

  • The insurers we work with, to quote, issue and manage your policy.
  • Technology providers that serve us: Meta (WhatsApp Business), Google (Analytics), FormSubmit (form delivery) and Amazon Web Services (site hosting).
  • Public authorities, when required by law.

5. International transfers

Some of our providers (Meta, Google, Amazon Web Services, FormSubmit) may store or process data outside Uruguay, for example in the United States. In those cases we require them to apply adequate safeguards to protect your information, as required by applicable law.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your data for as long as it's needed for the purpose we collected it for, or while you have a relationship with us, and afterwards for the periods required by law. If you sent us an enquiry and did not take out a policy, we delete your data within 12 months of our last contact.

7. How we protect your data

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), limit access to your data to the team members who need it, and work with providers that follow recognised security standards.

8. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to access, correct, update, add to or delete your data, and to withdraw your consent. Email us at info@cli-vo.com from the address or number you used to contact us. We reply within 5 business days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can file a complaint with Uruguay's Personal Data Regulatory and Control Unit (URCDP), www.gub.uy/urcdp.

9. How to ask us to delete your data

To delete your data:

  1. Email info@cli-vo.com with the subject “Delete my data”, or send us the same message on WhatsApp.
  2. Include your name and the email or phone you used to contact us.
  3. We delete your data within 5 business days and confirm once it's done. We only keep what the law requires us to retain.

10. Minors

Our services are intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated. If the changes are significant, we'll let you know.
